Details
Whitebird Fishing Access Site is a primitive camping and fishing access area on the Stillwater River between Columbus and Absarokee, Montana. There are approximately a half-dozen designated campsites at this area, but some may be closed or unusable during wet conditions.
Whitebird FAS offers picnic tables and fire rings at each campsite, as well as vault toilets. The site is located on the east bank of the Stillwater River and is popular with anglers.
This site has heavy tree cover so it may be difficult to position for enough sunlight on solar panels. There is a usable, but slow, Verizon signal at this site. We did not have an AT&T device with us for testing.
There are several Fishing Access Sites along Highway 78 and two allow camping.
Directions
Take Highway 78 south from Columbus. Turn right onto W. Whitebird Creek Road. There is a sign on Highway 78 for Whitebird Fishing Access Site.
