Details

Homesteader Park and Rest Area is a modern roadside rest area much like might be found on any Interstate highway. Homesteader Park is located on Highway 14 Alt just east of Powell.

Homesteader Park allows overnight RV and tent camping. The overnight RV parking is to the side of the rest area building, while the overnight tent camping area is behind the rest area building. Both areas are clearly marked with signs.

In addition to allowing overnight camping, the rest area building is open 24 hours a day with flush toilets and running water. Sleeping inside the building is not allowed. The park also features picnic tables and shelters, charcoal grills, a dump station, potable water, a 1.5 mile walking/biking trail, and a seasonal fishing pond. Showers are not available at Homesteader Park, but the city aquatic center is next door and does have showers available with a $6 daily access fee.

Since Homesteader Park is located on a four-lane state highway there is some traffic noise, but it is not too bad.

Verizon signal and data speed are blazing fast thanks to a tower right behind the park. AT&T is slower, but still perfectly usable in our tests.
